Precision 5760 power plans missing

Hi, I have the xeon version which came with the windows 10 for workstation version, now 21H2 19044.1566 compilation, and I can't get to the minimum processor state. After following some regedit suggestions from the windows forum I was able to see the Maximum state, but still no minimum. I bought this computer for audio and I'm getting some glitches that shouldn't be happening with the configuration I have, so my best guess is that it's related to this issue, since I can only see the Balanced power plan and with very limited advanced options.

I've contacted dell support but their answer is that, since I have the basic warranty they can't help me. I found this extremely annoying. My old XPS L502X have this right where they're supposed to be.

It'll be great if someone has a solution to this. Precision specifically solutions are not very common on the web.

Regards

Hi there everyone!

So, fast-forward on time, and today I stumbled upon a video from a guy who really knows windows computers and uses them for music production as I do, and he addressed the issue and actually found a solution that worked for me. The one that solved the issue is the second one he tries. I'll leave you the link down below.

Now I can call this SOLVED!

Hope this helps. Bye!

I wrote that entry on my phone. Now that I'm my computer I'll leave here the Windows forum that I tried (the first suggestion did nothing, the second one worked partially) (Processor speed settings missing from Power Options - Microsoft Community)

And a image of the current state for my power plan options

Windows is changing locations for stuff in the control panel. Do this and you will get back high performance setting even though it does not show up in power plans anymore. Right click taskbar and open taskbar settings>>scroll down to notification are on right hand side >>click select which icons to show on taskbar>>Turn on the power icon. Then go back and click turn system icons on or off>>Turn on power icon. Now click on power icon in system tray and use the slider for best performance setting.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm aware of that option and I keep it in maximum performance, but it is not the same as what I'm looking for, which is to set the processor speeds at both ends

.

As you can see on the image, the processor speed is always fluctuating, and in an audio environment, this is very unwanted as it might be the cause for glitches and cracking sounds when recording.

Windows 10 for workstation also allows you to select ultimate performance.  You can select this power plan in the old control panel.

I know it should, but as you can see in my 2nd post, I don't have more.plans besides Balanced. I've had this computer since mid December and it came with just that power plan. At first I thought that dell had implemented another way of dealing with this, but 2 months on I'm certain that it doesn't and is very frustrating

So, I found a workaround that took a lot of time, still no Ultra Performance nor any other default windows power plans, but at least now I'm able to change the minimum processor state as well as other parameters, with which I can already create my own power plans. I don't know if I'm losing something that the Ultra Performance plan has, but still is better than just the Balanced one.

The steps I followed are in this page, for me the one that worked was the 2nd

How to Restore Missing Power Plan Options on Windows 10 - Appuals.com

and then I used this instructions to show the minimum processor state

Add or Remove Minimum processor state from Power Options in Windows | Tutorials (tenforums.com)

Hope this helps to someone with this issue. But I have to state that the issue is not solved. So please keep sending your help/knowledge
