Precision 5540 WiFi upgrade

Digging around it seems my Wifi slot is PCIe (rather than CNVi) so i have to be careful of what works as CNVi2 is is not backwards or forwards compatible.

My goal is to have 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz to have more channels available The incumbent is an Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9260 160MHz Looking at the AX210 seems to be only dual band but tri-band cards do not seem to be available? Thoughts?

Inquiringly with Intel. they said the AX210 is the best choice today as it has broad compatibility. Looking at the existing Wi-Fi card the AX210 seems to be drop in AX wave which can perk up downloads etc.

Digging around more I found this

https://www.intel.ca/content/www/ca/en/support/articles/000026155/wireless.html

specs are not very clear as CNVi2 is not backward compatible

In the months since I upgraded by 5540 to the Intel AX210 Wifi card my connections seem more stable and updates seem more efficient as well. Seems that upgrade is worth the 30 minutes to dissect the machine, remove the old card and install the new one.

The AX210 is a generation better with support for 6 GHz which will be helpful in busy areas. The goal was not so much better speed but rather the ability to use new channels where better throughput is possible.

It seems that Dell went for PCIe which is an open standard instead of the CNVi which is a proprietary. Respect to Dell for sticking with a de facto standard.
