Precision 3571, RAM upgrade compatible?

Hello community,

Beside the original Dell 32GB 4800 memory upgrade, is there any other non-ECC models from other vendors compatible with Precision 3571? I've asked some sellers about Samsung and Corsair models, they all argued it might not be compatible with my notebook.

Regards,

Rodrigo P

Hello Community,

After a long time jumping from phone to phone, chat to chat, I was informed by the Sales Team in the US that the following model was tested and is compatible:

  • Samsung manufacturing part number M425R4GA3BB0-CQK

I can confirm that the following module is compatible with Precision 3571:

  • Samsung manufacturing part number M425R4GA3BB0-CQK

The above has 32GB, now my system has 64GB of RAM

The most compatible RAM for Dell systems has been from Crucial. the RAM for your 3571 can be found at their site here.

Thanks for you answer! I've tried exactly this model and it didn't work, now I'm not sure if the memory is damaged or simply not compatible.

Crucial 32GB DDR5-4800 SODIMM
CT32G48C40S5

Is this really tested and worked in a real Precision 3571? Is this guaranteed to work?

Thanks,

Hello again Forum,

I would like to update the community about the very disappointing output of this request.

After creating this post, I was contacted via private message by Rohan from the Dell Social Media team, who was using the DELL-Cares profile. He was very polite, but the only information he was able to provide was the publicly available, high-level specs of compatible memory:

  • 8 GB, 1 x 8 GB, DDR5, 4800 MHz

  • 16 GB, 1 x 16 GB, DDR5, 4800 MHz

  • 16 GB, 2 x 8 GB, DDR5, 4800 MHz, dual-channel

  • 32 GB, 1 x 32 GB, DDR5, 4800 MHz

  • 32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, DDR5, 4800 MHz, dual-channel

  • 64 GB, 2 x 32 GB, DDR5, 4800 MHz, dual-channel

I've recently tested a Crucial DDR5 32GB 4800 (model: CT32G48C40S5) memory on my laptop, but the system is not booting, neither alone nor paired with the original 32GB.

The Crucial website says it is compatible:
https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/precision-3571#memory

Rohan oriented me to reach out to the Sales Team for more information. I just called the Sales team, but unfortunately, they were unable to answer and transferred to Technical Support, who provided me with the very same information that Rohan provided.

The Sales Team also explained that Dell will not offer this information based on other vendors, only with Dell's original product, which is almost 5x more expensive than the equivalent from other vendors.

I also tried the paid support, with very same results.

I wish Dell could be more supportive than this, the experience is terrible.

Regards,
Rodrigo

Hi! The same thing with GSkill RAM. Looks like Dell closed the possibility to use 3rd party equipment in their laptops, but keep it secret.

I want to believe this is not the case, as I will surely not pay 5x the price of a normal RAM module, will probably get rid of the manufacturer on my company.

Hi:

I have exactly the same issue with my P3571 and few minutes ago I had a chat with CRUCIAL`s tech guy and he recomended me doing this: (I have not done it since I am at office right now).

"... Here in this case, I would request to please try CMOS/BIOS Reset using the steps given below:
Sometimes it is necessary to clear BIOS settings to solve boot-related issues. Your BIOS/UEFI may have a soft reset available for this process, or a jumper that can be used in place of the steps below but to otherwise manually clear the BIOS/CMOS install the memory and follow the instructions below:
-Turn off the system and unplug it
-Remove the case cover/panels
-After the system is open touch an exposed/bare metal part of the computer to ground yourself
-Looking at the motherboard you should see a small silver circular battery (like a watch battery). The battery will be held in place by a plastic holder
-Remove the battery from the motherboard. This is usually done by gently pressing the metal clip on the plastic holder. The battery should pop up/out on its own
-After the battery has been removed, leave the computer sitting like that for around 15 minutes
-After 15 minutes replace the battery and the cover/panels
-Reconnect all cables and power up the computer ..."

good luck

I have a latitude 5531, which is a similar model to the precision 3571 and shares the same BIOS. I can confirm that I was able to add a 16gb ram chip from crucial (CT32G48C40S5) to my laptop that worked along side the 16gb dell chip that came with my laptop. It took a while to POST the very first time I booted it up after installing it, but after that it boots up normally and has been working great for me for the last month or so. I had also tried the gskill ripjaw 2x16gb ram CL34 (F5-4800S3434A16GA2-RS) but was unable to POST with that

Vengeance's problem is that its latency times are non-standard (40-40-40 vs 40-39-39).

I believe any SODIMM DDR5 4800MHz CL40 (40-39-39) 1.1V memory module will work.

Even memories with standard JEDEC timings of 5600MHz will work, but limited to 4800MHz.

Dell has always used OEM (original equipment manufacturer) customized hardware (PSU, CPU, video cards, memory, etc.) purchased from the manufacturer to meet our conservative restrictions (VBIOS, System BIOS, drivers, etc.) based on our chosen thermals.
