M6800 Second Hard Drive
I have 2 M6800s. I want to put in a second hard drive in at least one. I opened them up and it doesn't look like there is a plug in either of them in the 2nd HDD bay. Were some built without and some built with the connection? Is tehre a way to tell from the service tag numbers? Thanks! RB

It has been a long time since I worked with an M6800, but I think you'll find the connector is present but rather hard to see. The online Owner's Manual shows the secondary drive's location, as well as brief installation and removal instructions. There's no mention in the manual that some M6800's don't have the secondary drive position.

As you'd expect, the Manual's "Removing the Secondary Hard Drive" section contains photos of both the drive bracket and the position of the secondary drive. You will need the drive bracket because the chassis doesn't secure the drive using the normal screw locations.

Thank you Thank you Thank you. I tried again to plug in the SSD and found that lifting slightly when pushing it into the slot made it line up. I still couldn't see the connector in there but it works!!!! RB
