dell precision 7550 adding a (power button) fingerprint reader

I got some used parts off of Ebay for the used precision 7550 I got not too long ago.

One of the parts was a fingerprint reader for the power button.

The other one was a RTX 3000, so you can upgrade the graphics in these machines without issues

I installed the fingerprint reader and it shows a enable fingerprint reader under system configuration in the bios

In windows there are no unknown devices but the fingerprint reader is not showing up in windows

I installed dell control vault and there was no change.

Anyone have any recommendations?

upon further research it would appear that I need the USH (Unified Security Hub) for this computer and I will reply with my results when I get one ordered and installed (my computer did not ship with a smart card reader / NFC so it did not come with one) - I am posting my findings so someone else with a similar situation can figure out what they need

looking into it further it appears I may need to have the smart card reader board for this system before it will work, although a second opinion would be greatly appreciated

I am also missing a control vault device in device manager, could it be something related to that?

here is a screenshot of my device manager:

ok with the USH installed it made the power button fingerprint reader work. kinda annoying that it is required because it does not connect to the USH but at least others will know that it works when you get a USH for the machine

the reason that this is required is because it goes through the dell control vault system or whatever it is called.

point is if you want to add a USH look for palmrests on ebay with a blown up touchpad (visible lump in middle) because they are quite common for under 20$

@Crazycatboyz Can you provide the part number?

I am interested in installing this for my own Precision 7550.
