T3600 Workstation does it support secondary 14TB Sata drive?
Hello community,
I have a Dell T3600 workstation that I brought brand new few years back. I now need to expand my hard drive space. I want to install 14TB Sata hard drive as secondary drive. I can't seem to find if my machine would support a large hard drive as secondary. Before I go ahead and purchase the drive, anyone know if this is possible?
thanks community
Best Regards,
NP

Hello Nick,
1. Yes, adding the new drive as GPT, else you won't get 14TB
2. Convert your C:\ drive to GPT is not required to add large storage drive but I suggest to convert your C:\ drive so you can use UEFI boot mode. Win 10 has built-in tool to convert MBR2GPT. There are different ways, you can run from inside and outside Windows as well. Just run command to validate full OS and convert.

Yes Nick, 14 TB SATA drive will work with your T3600 as storage. Just be sure to initialize it with GPT partitioning scheme in Device Manager.

Thanks Chino for replying back. I appreciate it.
So my windows primary C:\ drive with the Windows 10 OS is an SSD set are MBR. Question:
1:) Do I put in the secondary 14TB and set that secondary drive as GPT?
2:) Or is it my Primary C:\ drive I have to turn it into GPT.
Best Regards,
Nick
