Precision 7920 rack TPM upgrade
Is there any chance we will see an TPM 1.2 to 2.0 upgrade for the elderly Precision 7920 rack workstations? or a hardware option?
There is a win11 driver package to them, my workstations are from two to four years old.
Thanks.

Morning, I found a solution and are now running windows 11 on the hardware.
I'll try and document on the next workstation. as I have not found this information anyware.
Running the assessment tool in Windows 10 you get an error on TPM 1.2, but if I installed Windows 11 from a ISO the TPM came up as TPM 2.0 after the upgrade.
I have not seen this before and there is no referance to this as I can find.

If you are looking to upgrade to TPM 2.0 because of Win 11, you can attempt with the installation as it has been accepting TPM 1.2 so far.

It seams like they are missing between the upgradable ones and the ones delivered with TPM 2.0
Windows 11 does not install neither through updates or as Win11 Workstation Iso in my case. I'll run it by support as they are still under warranty.

Another thing you could use is Rufus to make your bootable USB installer for Windows.

Hi, did you ever find a real solution to this?
I tried installing the TPM update tool but it crashes. Maybe because the 7920rack is not listed as compatible for this tool?

According to the manual, the TPM chip is a replaceable chip on the mainboard. Perhaps Dell can replace it with a 2.0 version?

I've come to the conclusion of two dangerous option replace the chip or update.
Dell ASSY Card, Security TRPM, 1.2, 14G MPN CMD3M
Dell ASSY Card, Security TRPM, 2.0, 14G MPN 1MW70
Nuvoton upgrade from 5.81.0.0 (TPM1.2) 1.3.2.8 (TPM2.0) 1.3.2.8, A03

Any news or updates on this one?
We have the same question concerning around 30 to 40 of these workstations...
It seems that a FW update is not possible. But is there any change to replace the TPM chip, officially supported by Dell?
