Precision 5820/7820 drive carrier LEDs; custom PCB for SATA activity?
This may be a little off-topic, but @mail9010 posted here about a custom PCB they designed to add activity and power LEDs for the SATA backplane and drive carriers: https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/precision-fixed-workstations/precision-5820-fixed-workstation-drive-carrier-status-lights-not-functioning/647fa3b0f4ccf8a8de9a129c?commentId=647fa42af4ccf8a8dea4c2a2
This is a very well-designed and executed project! I was hoping that @mail9010 would see this post and might be willing to respond back with some more details. I'm interested to see the bottom layer of the PCB, and I'd like to know what U1 does--maybe a buffer/driver chip?
Thank you!

Thanks!
U1 is a LM393. It was designed to drive the ACT LED from pin5 of the SATA(SAS) power jack.
Actually, a better way is to use a transistor, but without a chip, it looks too simple.. :)
It works well with my 4T SAS HDDs.
The bottom layer:

@mail9010, I know this is a late reply, but I completely missed your response from back in 2024. Much appreciated! Thanks to @phreaknes for bringing this back to the top. I accepted your post as the answer. Nice work on this project.
