No, it will only stop the Realtek audio from going to power save mode.

The day before yesterday, after the Dell maintenance staff replaced me with a new main-board, there has been no broken sound in the past few days. The reason is that there is a problem with the sound port on the back plate. The problem that has been bothering me for a year has finally been solved.

Right click on speaker icon in taskbar.  Click on "Sounds."  In the window that opens, you should see a rectangular box that says something like "Windows default."  It's a drop down menu.  Click on it and change it to "None."  Click on "Ok."  System sounds are now off.

You would only be turning off Windows sounds.

The other option would be to leave it on, and in the box below the rectangle saying "Windows default," uncheck everything you don't want a sound effect for.

Thanks for your reply, I don't mean to turn off the sound. I want to play the sound effect normally without noise(puff sound) each open app.

That is usually caused by:

a. The audio circuit waking-up each time (and going back asleep quickly). Seems to happen more with HDMI (like maybe getting audio from a HDMI-connected monitor).

b. There is so much "noise" on the line that silence sounds like "puff".

I use display port, I don't know that is Windows 11 Pro or mainboard defect. But I haven't trouble with using old Dell PC (XPS8300).

Hello @alee001 , try to disable the power management of Realtek audio using registry edit to see if it may help.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Realtek\Audio\RtkNGUI64\PowerMngt\Enabled to 0.

Reboot after making change.

Does this mean to mute the computer?

Another thing to try:  Right click on speaker icon in taskbar.  Open Volume Mixer.  You should see System Sounds as one of the options.  Turn it down or mute it.  Again, this would only mute system sounds.  You'll see your other volumes are still there, like Windows Media Player (WMP)* and so on.  *WMP volume only shows with WMP opened.
