Precision 3630 supported CPU: Xeon E2136 but no E2134?

Hi,

I was looking to upgrade the CPU, at least to get more threads (from a 2224G). I can see the Xeon E-2136 in the CPU list, but somehow the E-2134 is missing. It looks like the same CPU, but with a different clock, and coincidentally, it's the one I want to buy.

Is this CPU really not compatible? (maybe it simply didn't go through the testing process?)

Or is it just missing because some other reason?

Thank you

If the E-2134 can go with the Intel® C246 Chipset in your 3630, you're in luck.  Socket type is the same, FCLGA1151.

EDIT:  C246 chipset supports both E-2134 and E-2136.  https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/147326/intel-c246-chipset/compatible.html

The Xeon 2224G has a 4 thread 4 core CPU 71Watts

The Xeon 2136 is a 6 core 12 thread CPU 80Watts

The Xeon 2134 is a 4 core 8 thread CPU 71Watts

If you wanted more threads and the 2136 is IN the list wouldn't that be the better choice?

because I can get the 2134 second hand  at 1/3 the price and it'd be enough for my use case to replace the single threaded 2224G.

Since it was only 70€ (second hand, obviously), and I really wanted the extra threads, I decided to just give it a try. Turns out it works perfectly. I got a nice performance bump (for my use case).

Of course you need to go to the performance settings in the BIOS to enable hyperthreading. But I can confirm that the processor is 100% correctly recognized, and working with all available features enabled.

Thanks!
