Precision 3450 SFF I/O Daughter Cards
I have a Precision 3450 SFF computer. This unit supports a selection of daughter cards via the rear knockout panel. From the products main page Parts & Repair I can only find the Type-C I/O card (0D22C) listed.
I am of the opinion it is substantially the same as the Optiplex 7080, that has the VGA I\O Card, but none of the others I am expecting (HDMI, DP and Serial). The 3450 is missing (from between the 3440 and 3460), so no confirmation this will work.
Is there a complete list of these I/O daughter cards for this unit, and specs for same? Not seeing this discussed in the manuals.
Related:
Is there a spec for the MOBO ports across these units and\or other compatibility\x-fit notes. Specifically in the service manual, page 55, there is indicated 2 ports:
- Item 1 - Video Connector,
- Item 21 - USB Type-C Connector
For the USB-C port, is there any details of what this supports for power or connectivity (i.e. PD, Data, Video)
For the Card Reader (Item 9), is this the TT15C, which I am unable to find on the Dell site?
Thank you, RangerZ

SD 4.0 cards have read speeds ranging from 80 MB/s to over 300 MB/s, and write speeds ranging from 10 MB/s to over 200 MB/s. The exact speed depends on the card's specifications and how it's being used. real speed almost always less than spec.

USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C® w/DP-Alt mode:
Dell's USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DP-Alt mode allows a USB-C connector and cable to support the DisplayPort interface for audio/video (AV) transport. This is also known as the DisplayPort Alt Mode for USB-C

@redxps630, Thanks for the info.
Not clear what happened. I did not consciously mark this solved. In any event I have some more questions please....
This is real disappointing. Dell has a real "Super Power" with these connections, especially in the Micros. As you noted, across the board, Dell has done a poor job on quantifying their accessories and noting part numbers in documentation and web pages. The adapter I would really like to see is a simple audio in\out, as the micros only have audio connections on the front, and USB audio is in general poor.
So I'm an inventory\manufacturing guy. I like part numbers. The spec sheet is great and practically useless as a sourcing tool. Same for the manuals. Indeed they are referenced on the adapter web pages for install instructions, but do not actually include notes about installing these components. NBD.
Regarding the link to the USB-C info in your last post, the words are all there, but it references 3.1, not 3.2. This link is marginally better, but not much (expand item 2, select USB-C)
https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000129226/frequently-asked-questions-faqs-about-the-usb-ports-on-a-dell-pc
The Search Page itself offers a little more including speeds by searching "USB 3.2".
So reading between the lines, it seems like the 2 MOBO connectors (Type-C and Video) are physically the same across a number of models and years. I am guessing that they are like a MOBO PCI-e connector, wired to the bus and that the chip-set of the model will, coupled with the specific adapter version\part number determine the level of functionality (IE video resolution or USB-C speed\features).
As it seems like there a number of part numbers for a given form factor, that if I choose to buy say a USB Type-C from a newer 7090 or 7010 that, like PCI-E cards, it can expect this to be backward compatible to the MOBOs chip-set\capability. Going the other way (older) I may loose performance. The lack of a true spec sheet for these is annoying.
Do you agree?
As for what to buy, seems like the most flexible item is the USB-C port as it can do data and video. Not sure I see a need for PD, but it's there.
Assuming I am correct in my assertion above, I should be able to go with the newer PR6TD (7010 and 3460) as opposed to the 3450's 0D22C

So, last, but not least for my needs is the TT15C Card Reader. Any chance you know what "4.0" represents for performance? The Search tool thinks it's the Service Tag for an Optiplex GX1, kind of funny actually, floppy, 10GB IDE....
Thank you again and Happy New Years!

0D22C is officially c/w 3450 per Dell site
This product is compatible with the following systems:
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-type-c-i-o-daughterboard/apd/0d22c/controller-cards
I will go for that one

the part list I gave last time was from Precison 3450. we outsider can only guess at the spec from description. it is not enough but that is all we have. yes in an ideal world Dell would let user know the spec of each part. In an imperfect world we will have to get by w what we can find.
