Dell Universal Receiver not showing up in Dell Universal Receiver Control Panel app

I am trying to pair a keyboard and mouse to a Dell Universal Receiver.

I can see that Dell Universal Receiver from my laptop but it is not showing up in the "Dell Universal Receiver Control Panel" app.

Tried removing the physical receiver and plugging it into another USB port directly or indirectly, also tried uninstalling the receiver drivers and scan for hardware changes in Device Manager, still got the same result of system able to identify the receiver but still not showing in "Dell Universal Receiver Control Panel" app.

Does anyone have any idea how to get it to show up?

Hi everyone,

What caused the issue?

The latest firmware update was not available to the servers globally. This is causing a download failure for you. The dongle firmware can end up in its bootloader state when the firmware update does not complete successfully. The dongle loses communication with the keyboard and mouse.

How to resolve?

  1. Manually download and install the following firmware:

    1. Download this .zip file: Standalone Bootloader FW Update Utility

    2. Extract the .zip file to a temporary folder.

    3. Open the temporary folder and right-click Dongle_FWUpdateTool 0.1.2.6.exe and select Run as Administrator.

    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.

  2. Launch the Dell Peripheral Manager application.

    1. Run the Firmware update process in DPM.

    2. Go back to Step.1 and repeat them if the dongle is still having issues.

  3. Contact us by clicking on the 'Get Help Now' chat feature located in the bottom-right corner of the page.

@mjhhoops33 I downloaded the Logitech Unifying receiver software and it did not recognize the Dell receiver.

The Dell Accepted Solution is not a solution.  It does not state how keyboard and mouse were paired.

As stated above by Brad......This is not a solution. Does not work at all for what we need to do. Dell sold us hunderds of wireless keyboards and mice since the covid shutdown and when they get turned back in it is impossible to keep everything together so reprogramming/re-paring is a must. I have so many sets that are worthless because we need to get these things communicating again and the  Universal Receiver control panel doesn't identify any of them. How about someone from Dell provide a real solution. I do not have this problem with Logitech reprogramming.

It looks like the Dell solution was edited after I made my comment that it wasn't a solution.

It shouldn't be such a complex to pair wireless keyboard and mouse.

For those who are unfamiliar to Dell Peripheral Manager application, it's user interface application, supports the following:

• Pair/unpair devices through RF dongle or Bluetooth.
• Assign shortcuts to customizable action buttons.
• View advanced device information, such as firmware version and
battery status.
• Configure webcam and use its features.
• Upgrade software and device(s) using latest updates.

Here is an example of on-screen instructions for pairing new device using both RF and Bluetooth options.

@Chino de Oro

I had a similar problem with USB Dell RF receiver, model: SD-8160:

Dell Universal Receiver - does not recognise it.

Dell Display and Peripheral Manager 2.1.2.12, aka DDPM -only recognise dongles paired with a mouse/keyboard. They can unpair but cannot pair again, making the device unusable...

Dell Peripheral Manager  1.7.5 aka DPM -can recognise unpaired dongle and PAIR it again. This tool is replaced by DDPM with can do less than older DPM (cannot pair), be careful when using DDPM.
