Virtual IDRAC NIC USB

Scenario: Windows server 2012r2 ( a new Windows server 2019 standard being built to replace it but the question will be the same), when OMSA and ISM are installed, and the IDRAC has a enterprise license there are 3 network connections showing in the OS. They are LOM1, LOM2 (set to disabled), and the Virtual IDRAC NIC USB.

The IDRAC has a static IPV4 that is set in IDRAC settings.

LOM1 has a static IPV4 that is set in Network adapter settings

The default settings for the "Virtual IDRAC NIC USB" is DHCP.  Should this be left as is, or should a static IP be assigned to it? If so should this IP be unique in the same range as the IDRAC and LOM1 & LOM2?

Thanks. I had already read that. In the network settings that USB adapter shows up. By default it is marked to use dhcp to get an address. The question is does that need to be changed to a static IP? If so what is preferred? The DHCP server passes out a 192.X.X.X address. The article says the address the laptop will see is 169.X.X.X.

I do not see the connection between the article and my question. Let me restate. The ISM installs the IDRAC Virtual NIC USB. By default it acquires a network address thru DHCP. Is that the best setting for it, or is a static IP better?  I understand its job is only to provide another way to connect to the IDRAC thru a USB port.
