Poweredge R430, unable to detect SSD drives

My Poweredge server does not detect the two 200GB SSDs. They are Dell Enterprise certified SSDs.

I am getting the following error:

IDRAC Settings

CBL0009: Backplane 1 connector A0 is not connected.

CBL0009: Backplane 1 connector B0 is not connected.

UEFI016: One or more boot drivers reported issue(s).

Check the Driver Health Menu in Boot Manager for details.

Controller: VenHw (C153B6BD-EBFC-B110-662867ABCDEF)

CBL0009: Backplane 1 connector A0 is not connected.

CBL0009: Backplane 1 connector B0 is not connected.

In the BIOS I have the drives set to RAID

I have replaced the Backplane and the Backplane cable.

When I ran diagnostics the SSDs are not detected.

I am unable to use CTRL-R, I read somewhere I needed to initialize the drives.

I double checked the cables. Is there more than one backplane? This is what my server looks like.

Hello,

which PERC model is installed? And which hard drives? (Dell part number).

If you remove the hard drives you can enter in CTRL R?

Thanks

Hello the message says the cable for backplane 1 is not properly conneted. Could you check on that first and let us know?

I removed the hdds and restarted the server. It still displayed the error. I also noticed I do not have a hardware PERC installed. Just the S130 which does software RAID. Could not having a PERC Card be the issue? Is there a way to directly connect the two HDDs and skip the backplane?

Hello,
"Is there a way to directly connect the two HDDs and skip the backplane?" -> I'm afraid you can't. (PERC , SAS cable / I2C cable .Backplane.)
On another note, I'm suspecting there's something wrong with the SAS chain. Would you be able to do a swap test?

Hi,

Can you confirm how are the cables connected described in the user guide:

https://dell.to/3RQkQ6E

If you were to remove both drives out, does the error still occur? Can you access the BIOS to clear the logs and reboot to check the error persist after drives removed.

I was able to resolve the issue. The Server did not have a RAID card. I bought a PERC 730 Mini; It arrived last night, installed and it works perfectly.
