PERC H755 and WD Disk

Hi,

Has anyone verified WD HC570 24TB SAS will work nicely with a Dell PERC H755?  It's to be housed on a Dell R7515.

Thank you!

Hello,

If it worked on the R7515, H755

Then I would think it would work on the R7615, H755 LP

Hello,

It looks like it could work for you.

If you would like me to see if Dell has validated it for the system you are moving it to please provide:

Server model moving to?

PERC controller model

Image of drive label showing Dell part number (DP/N part number).

From what I can see I don't think you will have any problem using that drive.

I can not explicitly confirm that the drive you have linked will work for sure if it does not have Dell firmware and you can't apply Dell firmware to a non Dell hard drive..

@DELL-Charles R

Thank you for your reply!

Server model moving to?  Brand new Dell PowerEdge R7615 (delivered a week ago from Dell)

PERC controller model:  PERC H755 LP

Image of drive label showing Dell part number (DP/N part number).  Not sure I have this.   However, my own research indicates J0PVX may be the DP/N that matches a 24TB WD-based drive.   I prefer HDDs that are WD-based over Seagate. Unfortunately, Dell branded WD (non Seagate) ones are too expensive and out of budget. (FYI: On the server, there are currently no 3.5 disks other than two SSDs as RAID 1 on BOSS controller for the OS.)

Sincere thanks!

Hi Everyone,

Thank you everyone for your help and responses.  I am circling back to close the loop on this topic.  To test, I ended up purchasing a single Western Digital DC580 24TB SAS  (Model Number: WUH722424AL5204 / Part Number: 0F62802 (Base SE)) for this Dell PowerEdge R7615 with a PERC 755 controller.  It seems to accept the disk.  I plan to purchase another 12.

Thank you!
