R740XD2 support for 2933MT/s DIMM?
We have a few R740XD2 servers (BIOS @2.22.1, iDRAC@7.0.0) manufactured in December 2019. 12 Newer and larger DIMMs were installed to replace old ones. I noticed that although the CPU (2x6230) supports 2933MT/s and the new DIMMs are exactly 2933, they are running at 2666MT/s.
I understand that R740XD2 supports 2933 MT/s starting from 2021. Does the new BIOS adds this to servers manufactured before 2021, i.e. are ours from 2019 stuck at 2666 MT/s?
Thanks!

From the looks of it the dimms are indeed supported to 2933, but the motherboard doesn't appear to be the MLK V2, which is what is needed for the 2933.

5X5CX62,
As you had stated, the 2933 was not supported until 2021, which I believe is when the MLK (mid life kicker) version of the motherboard was released, which is what supports the 2933. So what I would want to do in your case is one, confrim the part number for the dimms, and second is to confirm the part number of the otherboard.
Let me know those two, and I can confirm if they are both supported.

Hi Chris,
Thanks a lot for your attention. Here are the the P/N of the dimms (3200 rathan than 2933 as I thought) and motherboard. Let me know your thoughts.

@5X5CX62 I get it might be the wrong mb version, but double check your power settings, any sort of energy efficiency mode or performance per watt mode disable and set to high performance mode, then you might have the 2933 speed available. Often these are on multiple pages such as these on my iDrac:
