R740xd - PCIe Power (No available connectors)
I have an R740xd with the front x12 3.5in bays, internal x4 3.5in bays, and rear x2 3.5in bays. I plan on adding a lower power GPU that still requires PCIe power, but the J_BP0 and J_BP2 connectors are currently occupied due to the internal and rear drive bays.
Did Dell offer a splitter for J_BP0 (RSR3) or J_BP2 (RSR2) that would retain connectivity to the internal and rear drive backplanes while also splitting to a 6pin (or 8pin) PCIe connector?

Hi,
Unfortunately, We do not offer an official splitter cable for the J_BP0 (RSR3) or J_BP2 (RSR2) connectors on the R740xd that would allow you to power both the backplanes and a PCIe GPU. These connectors are specifically designed to provide power to the backplanes, and splitting them could potentially lead to power delivery issues or system instability.
Here's why this is likely the case and what options you might consider:
Power Budgeting: Dell designs its servers with specific power budgets in mind. The J_BP0 and J_BP2 connectors are likely sized to provide the precise amount of power needed for the backplanes connected to them. Splitting the connection to power a GPU could exceed the available power and cause problems.
Connector Pinout: Even if a splitter physically existed, the pinout of the J_BP0/J_BP2 connectors might not be directly compatible with a standard 6-pin or 8-pin PCIe power connector. Directly adapting the connector could damage the GPU or the server's power supply.
