R630 Maximum RAM Capacity (768GB or 3072GB?)
Greetings!
In the R630 Technical Guide it lists the maximum RAM capacity with LRDIMMs as 768GB using 32GB DIMMS, but in the R630 Owners Manual it lists the maximum RAM capacity with LRDIMMs as 3072 using 128GB DIMMS.
1) Was the R630 Technical Guide simply drafted before 128GB LRDIMMs were certified with the system and the R630 Users Manual was written later after certification?
2) Is there a specific (and later) BIOS/iDRAC version released that allowed the use of 128GB LRDIMMs where previously it was restricted to 32GB LRDIMMs maximum?

if you have an R630, the easiest way to to tell what your can take is to access the idrac gui, go to Hardware on the left pane, then Memory, it will show you the currently installed capacity and what the maximum capacity is.
My system says the installed capacity is 769.00 GB, and that its Max cap is 3072.00GB. it has 24 slots and 6 of those have 128GB DDR-4 dimms. To answer your question, yes, some sizes and models of dimms are added to the specs as the system ages and improvements are made. Usually, newer mobo are released that can handle newer processors, which then allows for more memory.

To make things even more confusing the official Dell Spec Sheet says the maximum RAM is 1.5TB.
3) Are there different revisions of the official User Manual, Technical Guide, and Spec Sheet?
