PowerEdge R940 Processor expansion module 379-BCQH

Hello, I need to purchase a cpu expansion module for my R940 server and was hoping you could provide the Dell mpn for one.  Would you please help me with this?  Thank you!

There isn't one needed, as all four of the CPUs are mounted to the motherboard. Whereas with the R940, only two CPUs reside on the motherboard, so the expansion module would be needed.

Hello, S3rverSavvs

Can you send us your system's service tag through here? https://www.dell.com/community/en/direct-messaging

@DELL-Young E Sure.  The service tag is {{{Svc Tag removed by Moderator}}}.  Look forward to your feedback.  Thank you sir!

Would you confirm the accuracy of the svc tag you sent, I ask as your post multiple times mentions a R940, but the tag is for an R840.

Also, you may want to private message the svc tag, as it will be removed from public facing forums.

@DELL-Chris H Oof, its an R840.  My apologies for that.  Can you please let me know what the Dell part number is for the processor expansion module for our R840?  Thank you Chris!

S3rverSavvs,

While the R940 has a PEM (part # DG2JC), the R840 doesn't have one listed for it. You can confirm that between the two Installation and Service manuals for both, as the R840 makes no mention of installing or removing one, where the R940 does.

@DELL-Chris H Appreciate your feedback.  Is there a component to expand number of CPUs from 2 to 4 in the R840?  Thank you.
