one x710-T2l and one BCM5719 in R340

Can two NICs be installed in the R340? I currently have a BCM5719 (quad-port 1Gbps NIC) in PCIe Slot 2. I'd like to move that to PCIe Slot 1 (after changing to a low-profile bracket) and installing an X710-T2L in PCIe Slot 2.

Is this supported on the R340?

This is an alternative plan since I'm having trouble getting an X710-T4L working in the R340. This card is not in the compatibility list but I don't understand why it wouldn't work. The PCIe Slot 2 link is x8 which is what the X710-T4L operates at. I have more troubleshooting to do to ensure the issue is not with the NIC itself. If the NIC is fine, there is some Dell imposed limitation to what adapters can be used in the PCIe slots, I guess.

Monkadelic_D,

To answer your question, yes you should be able to have two different nics installed in the R340. Now while the card you listed isn't compatible, I do see an x710 listed, part # DDJKY.

Let me know if this helps.

Hello, I looked up a matrix for R340 and X710-T4L does not exist in the matrix, but I do see BCM5719 though.
Let us know if you have any further questions. Hope this helps.

I'm looking for an answer to the question in my post. You didn't answer that question. Instead you confirmed what I already stated in the post.
