About the DELL 760XS Server
Hello,
I have a Dell 760xs server, which currently has 5 stock fans installed and a total of 6 fan sockets. In this state, when we install a GPU, the fans start running at 100%. However, when we remove the GPU, they run at 25% power.
My question is: if we connect a 6th fan to the empty socket, will the fan speeds balance out? (By the way, the empty socket requires a high-performance fan.)
Thank you!

Hi,
You can refer to the user guide for Fan population on GPU configuration with the backplane that is in the server: https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-ca/poweredge-r760xs/r760xs_ism_pub/thermal-restriction-matrix?guid=guid-dab3d66d-ffec-431d-9415-cb42f8fa2302&lang=en-us
It seems that you will need HPR Gold (DPN# 2ND0R) in Fan 1 slot and HPR Silver (DPN# 5NHJV) in Fan 2 to 6 slots.

Hi,
Could you please share the product code of the fans that need to be installed? Here’s what we had received from our Dell supplier:
Very High Performance Fan Customer Kit
Very High Performance Fan Customer Install
High Performance Fan 16G Customer Install
Will these products be the correct ones? Thank you very much for your support.
