Wireless card acting up

I have two questions. I have an Inspiron 15 3521 and the wireless card will no longer connect to my wireless router. It sees the router (and other routers in the area) so the but when I try to connect it trys and come back with perhaps the password is incorrect. Well, I know the password is correct because my other devices (laptops in the house and phones) seem to connect just fine. I seem to be able to connect with the ethernet cable, but the wireless card will not connect. The hardware says it's operating as it should and I've tried to look for driver updates but when scanning for driver updates, it says the drivers are up to date. I tried rolling back the updates (in case something updated incorrectly in the past) but it still will not connect.

So my first question is this likely a software problem? And my second question is if it is the wifi card, can I replace it with something better and what is recommended for this platform?

docdetroit99,

I would go to network and sharing center, manage wireless networks and delete the problem connection. Then I would try connecting new.

What virus program and firewall are you using?

Rick

Thanks Rick. Your suggestion worked perfectly! By the way, I'm using MacAfee virus  and firewall protection (downloaded from AT&T).

Best wishes,

Ronnie
