Win8 drivers for Optiplex 745, 755, 760, 780
Hi
I am looking for Windows 8 drivers for Optiplex 745, 755, 760, 780. Only Win7 drivers are listed in the driver download section.... :( I need Win8 drivers for WinPE4/deployment/imaging services.

In most cases, Windows 8 will have all the needed drivers. Are there drivers in particular you need or are having problems with?

Hi Sean03839,
Welcome to the Dell Community,
These system models are not built and tested on Windows 8 Operating Systems. Hence there are no drivers available for these system models.
Consider installing the windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode.
Hope this helps.

I need Win8 drivers for WinPE4, for imaging purposes.
My understanding is WinPE4 only uses Win8 drivers, nothing earlier.
If that is true and there are no Win8 drivers for these models that means they are useless going forward and will have to be replaced. Not a very good choice for me as I have well over 100 running Win7 quite happily.

The OptiPlex 745, 755 and 760 run Windows 8.1 32 and 64 Bit quite nicely. The 780 will also run Windows 8.1 aswell. For the 745 and 755 I used the following drivers.
For the 760 and 780 I used the Dell Windows 7 drivers.
As mentioned however, the systems are more or less fully functional out of the box as Windows 8.1 has a lot of inbuilt system drivers. You could probably get away with installation of only video card drivers.

Hi Philip
I am not talking about running Win8 on any of the OptiPlex models. I just need NIC drivers that allow WinPE4 to communicate from my Altiris Server to lay down a image.

You can try the driver CAB's.
WinPE 4.0:

WinPE 5.0:

The models/drivers might be close enough to work. Neither Dell nor Intel supports the 82567 on Windows 8 ... that I can tell.

I have not had to try the previous posted driver links. WinPE4 is designed to work with Win7 drivers(and probably Vista drivers) so I have been OK so far with testing I have done.
I was not looking for Win8 drivers for the NIC's to run Win8 itself, I was just looking for Win8 drivers for WinPE(for imaging purposes). All pre-OS.

Sean my name is Morgan Neill and I am technical support for Symantec deployment solution. Contrary to your previous comment WinPE4 is not actually designed to work with Windows 7, but it does still work about 90% of the time. Mainly it fails upon scripted OS installations. The support matrix for this can be referenced here about half way down the page: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824993.aspx. Windows 8 is designed to work with WinPE4 as it is the version that ships with the product. Based on the comments from Dell above there are no vendor specific drivers for your dell model computers for windows 8 support as they were not designed for that OS. However this does not mean that it can't be configured to work with using the Win7 drivers. So the question is have you set up a test box with Windows 8 and tried to use the drivers that you currently have?
