Wifi switched off will come on intermittently then switch off again?

I will suggest you to run the Intel Driver Update utility for the latest driver or updates for the system.

Hi Elly,

You may restore the BIOS to its defaults. The steps are:

• Turn on (or restart) your computer
• When the DELL logo appears, hit the F2 key about 6-7 times immediately.
• Chose the ‘Maintenance’ tab from the left hand pane
• Select ‘Load Defaults’ and on the right side window click ‘Continue’

thank you so much for helping me. I have restasted my computer and did the load defaults in the setup main tenenace section but I still have the same problem?

I have also just realised I do not have bluetooth capability which is managed via the same swich on the right hand side of my computer.

I have a dell truemobile 355 internal bluetooth monitor which was fitted when the computer shipped. When i try to use this it tells me there is no bluetooth adaptor and it does not show up in device manager.

Hi Elly,

Check the ‘Wireless’ settings in the system BIOS to ensure the settings are correct.

• Go to the BIOS screen and select the ‘Wireless’ option in the left pane.
• Make sure the Internal Bluetooth, Internal W-Fi and Internal Cellular options are enabled.
• Set the Wireless Switch option to ‘All’ and Wi-Fi Catcher to ‘Reset to Basic Mode’.

For Bluetooth, install the driver from the link http://dell.to/1bzg5lg.

After updating the drivers, perform the following steps to see if this resolves the issues with wireless.

1. Open Device Manager

2. Expand Network Adapters, right click the wireless card and choose Properties

3. Click the Advanced tab and make the following changes

• Disable 802.11n Mode
• Change Ad Hoc Channel 802.11b/g to 6
• Change Ad Hoc QoS Mode to WMM Enabled
• Change Mixed Mode Protection to RTS/CTS Enabled
• Change Roaming Aggressiveness to Highest
• Change Transmit Power to Highest

4. Click the Power management tab

• Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

5. Open Power Options

• Click Change plan settings for the selected power profile
• Click Change advanced power settings
• Under Wireless Adapter Settings, click Power Saving Mode and change the settings to Maximum Performance

6. Open the router page

• Change router channel to 6
• Change CTS Protection Type from CTS Only to RTS_CTS

Hello thank you I will do this and get back to you but before I do i read that the ORDER in which drivers are loaded can make a difference so As I installed chipset, blutooth, wireless and ether net drivers

I think I should do them again first and then follow your instructions which I will do and get back to you.

near the clock on your service tray is the software for the connection...it might have the option to have windows manage your wireless...mine does and i use it...now, my wireless never cuts out and is very stable....also, if you wanna how to start MS wireless zero services, please reply and i'll walk you thru this if needed....good luck

Thank you so much for your reply. I no longer have the wireless icon in the notification area only the wired LAN icon? In fact other than on the device manager there is nothing on this computer right now to indicate I have wireless capability at all!

As for bluetooth I do not even have that on my device manager.

Please can you also see the reply I have written to Dell-Kuldeep M about what I have tried today.

What is MS wireless zero and how would that help me please - sorry I am a very experienced computer user - way back to Dos - if you are ancient enough to remember that  but a newbie at this technical set up trouble shooting game!

 Today I have installed in this order

 Chipset Ricoh-Driver R166188.EXE(2MB)

 Chipset Intel-Driver R166187.exe(1MB)

 Network Marvell-Driver R167854.EXE(21MB) When I ran the install for this it said "the file *.msi could not be found” and the installation was cancelled. I tried it a few time but always got this error message????

 Application Dell QuickSet, v.8.2.20, A09 R180762.exe(5MB)

 Network Intel-Driver Intel_multi-device_A05_R164259.exe(38MB)

From http://dell.to/1bzg5lg  I TRIED to install Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module (Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR), v.6.0.1.3100&FW216, A00 version. When I ran the install for this it stopped and said “ activate Bluetooth using Fn+F2 or radio on/off switch” I tried several times but I could not “Activate” Bluetooth so this installation was cancelled.

 Then I Checked the ‘Wireless’ settings in the system BIOS to ensure the settings were correct.

When I opened the router page it does not have any wireless connections so I was unable to make these changes?

ok   right click on MY COMPUTER and scroll to MANAGE then click on services and apps, click services and scroll to Windows Wireless Zero and then click start services...let me know it works now

both of those services are already set to start automatically and are running.
