Why can my Dell Laptop connect to wifi but not get internet through it?

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspirion N5110.

Recently I have been unable to connect to the internet through a router (both wireless and using a wire). I can use the internet if I connect the laptop directly to the modem. The laptop successfully connects to the wireless network, and other devices on this network can access the internet.

I ran ipconfig /all and these are the results:

I use the Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection

Everything works fine now.

The problem was with Mcafee firewall.

yaelazz,

Looking at my notes....

Disable Bluetooth on the Centrino 2230 and also set Bluetooth(R) AMP: Disabled.

yaelazz,

Put everything like it should be...

wall > isp modem/router > wireless router(if any) > wired/wireless

Power off your ISP modem/router and your wireless router(if any) for 30 seconds. Then power on the ISP modem/router. Wait 15 seconds, then power on the wireless router(if any)

Restart the computer and try to connect.

What happens?

Thank you for the quick reply.

I have disabled the Bluetooth, as you suggested.

I also restarted the modem, router and computer as you wrote.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by

Put everything like it should be...

wall > isp modem/router > wireless router(if any) > wired/wireless

Modem: Arris TM602A

Wireless Router: TP-LINK TL-WR641G

Nothing has changed yet, still getting no internet connection.

Just to clarify - I get a connection only when I connect the computer directly to the Arris modem via Ethernet.

yaelazz,

Did you read page 13 in the TP-Link WR641g Owners Manual? It explains how to setup the router/

I use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11 and would suggest making a new SSID to make connecting easier.
