Unable to access WiFi
Having had problems with my laptop, I have done a factory reset using a disc Dell kindly mailed to me. All seems to be ok, but I can't access WiFi. Nothing at all shows up in Network and Sharing Center, the only options I get is to connect using an ethernet cable or via dial up. There are no WiFi options at all. I have it enabled, but that makes no difference.
I have been onto the Dell Drivers & Downloads, entered my service tag and downloaded drivers, but nothing at all so far has enabled the WiFi.
I have tried 'set up a new connection' but nothing shows. I think I have tried virtually everything obvious, but I just can't get access to WiFi.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the WiFI back, I was advised to check the device manager for anything with a yellow exclamation mark, which showed there was a problem under network, so I right clicked to update the driver and all is working now.
Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a Studio 17 with Windows 7 installed. I will reboot the computer now and will do as you say above and report back shortly.
Thanks

Hi grshakes,
To assist you further, please help me with the system model and operating system installed in it.
Also, please check in BIOS if the Wireless card is enabled or disabled.
To check in BIOS, restart the system and keep tapping F2 when Dell logo appears. If the Wireless card is disabled,
Enable it and press F10 to save changes and exit. Try connecting to the wireless networks and check.
Please reply for further help.

No, I didn't do any of that, the instructions I followed told me to:
1 Insert the Windows Install DVD into the DVD drive, and then restart your computer. When the message Press any key to boot from the CD or DVD ... appears, press a key to continue booting to the DVD.
I rebooted from the CD I had been sent by Dell.
I then went onto the Dell website, searched for drivers, entered my service tag number and downloaded what I thought may be the correct drivers, although there were so many options I wasn't sure which ones were required. I looked at my original invoice to see what had come with the laptop originally, and tried to match up specs with drivers.
I will take a look at the link you provided above and see if that helps. Thank you.

grshakes,
Please continue with DELL-Nikhil D
When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Start with the Dell System Software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

grshakes,
The Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers know what is attached to your system. If these two drivers were not installed first, the rest of the drivers will fail to install.

I have checked the BIOS as instructed and it says:
Internal WLAN - Enabled
Internal WWAN - Enabled.
I couldn't see anything that said wireless card, so I am not sure if the above info I have given you is relevant?
