New W7 install can't find modem

I had to reinstall W7 on my DELL from a newly purchased install disk.  The installation went well and Windows is running..unfortunately I can't get to the internet to upgrade all my DELL drivers.  I have the DELL installation disks for the DELL preinstalled Utilities/Tools/Applications.  From these disks I loaded the communications driver stipulated by DELL in their online support pages..the driver is CONEXANT-D400-USB-MODEM-RSVP-A02-SETUP-ZPE.  I initiate the installation of this driver, the activity bar proceeds properly and then I get a message DRIVE INSTALLATION FAILED COULD NOT FIND THE MODEM DEVICE FOR THIS DRIVER.

I have a laptop and several ROKU's running OK on the internet.  My system is INSPIRON 620 and the computer is connected to the modem via ETHERNET cable. Am not familiar doing this sort of thing, so my question is whether there is another driver necessary for actually 'installing' the modem into the system, or is it a problem with my CenturyLink connection to this particular computer?

I followed your directions for finding the proper drivers for my specific configuration, downloaded them and wrote to disk for installation on the DELL in question.  Following is the order of installation as best I could determine from the DELL Installation Sequence web page.

Installed Intel_Chipset-Software-Insta_A01_R301321
Installed Intel_Management-Engine-Inte_A01_R301322
Installed R299669
Unable to install R222887
(No supported product on this system)
Unable to install R299051
(Graphics driver could not find compatible hardware)
Unable to install R306821
    (Unzipped and then no response
Installed Intel_Graphics-Controller_A01_R301323
Installed R294969
Installed R294998
Installed Realtek_RTL81XX-PCI-E-Networ_A01_R301326
Installed R301307
Unable to install CONEXANT_D400-USB-MODEM_RY5VP_A02_SETUP_ZPE
    (Message 'couldn't find modem')
Unable to install R293982
    (No compatible hardware found)
Installed DW1502_Dell_W7_A02_Setup-9DTVV_ZPE

Internet Explorer now works fine.  Am confused as to why the CONEXANT file did not load.  It was on my DELL 'Utilities Installed' disk.  Sort of a mute point now..

The root of the problems I had was that on the web page listing my applicable drivers, I interpreted the REQUIRES RESTART to mean that if I downloaded it to my laptop it would try to install on the laptop.  Misinterpretation on my part.

Many thanks for your prompt and correct responses!!!

R222887 is the Creative SoundBlaster PCI you have the Conexant Audio R299669

R293982/R299051/R306821 are for NVIDIA Video you have the onboard Intel Video R301326

CONEXANT_D400-USB-MODEM_RY5VP_A02_SETUP_ZPE is a modem, modems are obsolete and very few systems are sold with them these days

Tx for the info natakuc4.  The included Windows 10 upgtade was the reason i went for the OEM disk rather than attempting a Recovery on the old system.  Will do upgrade eventually but need to work off my project backlog (I make kids party videos) before launching into into build.

I'm impressed with the DELL Community...it's extremely valuable.;;
