Limited wi-fi connectivity drop

Hi I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 14 laptop running Windows 8. Lets be clear that this is not a problem with my internet service as I have 4 other computer running in my house with no network problems whatsoever. My laptop however, has a netowrk problem where after every 15-20 minutes, the connection drops, turns into limited and I need several tries over 5 minutes or so to get it connected again. This is very frustrationg as you can imagine.

I've tried uninstalling my pre-installed McAfee antivirus, updating all Windows software updates and also tried the power management solution but no luck.

this is the key. I've been looking for a solution for two months for this thing. download the full software with drivers for your version of windows 8.1.

Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER and post the information back here.

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

I use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier.

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

I also have a Dell Inspiron laptop with the exact same problems. Dell support claims it's likely a problem with the service provider, but we have other computers and devices which work fine. With my Dell being less than a year old, it's already been in repair 3 times! First was a problem with the audio speakers, then the monitor went up, then the hard drive crashed - resulting in the loss of all files - my work files, our cherished family photos, everything. The problem with Wi-Fi has been constant. I've ran diagnostics and updates all the drivers, but to no avail. This purchase has been the most regretful.

Sorry to hear about your files being lost. There are ways to get files off a failing or failed hard drive.

Can you please tell me the virus program and firewall you're using?

Can you also run Network Interface and post the information back here.

Thank you for your reply. The hard drive has been replaced by an authorized Dell repair center in Lviv, Ukraine. They told us they could not save the files from the hard drive without taking out the internal hard drive disk - which they claimed they were not authorized to do - since they should send the hard drive back to Dell.
 
I was using the original firewall and Windows Defender, with AVG Antivirus program.
 
If there is a way to track where the hard drive is now and get back the information, I would be extremely grateful.

Change the channel in your router to channel 11. If you still have connection problems, make a new SSID and try using the Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11.

On your computer...

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your network adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Click on advanced, look for Antenna Diversity. Change Antenna Diversity from Auto to Aux.

Click on Advanced, bandwidth capability, change to 20/40mhz

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

I forgot to mention. After you try these settings, if you still have problems, I would try uninstalling AVG using the AVG Removal Tool then restart your computer.

See if you can connect with no problems.

During upgrade process, Microsoft Updates the Network Adapter drives that have caused the problem for many. Therefore, you are advised to Revert Network Adapter Drivers to manufacturer release... To do this, check this article and jump to Revert Network Adapter Drivers

Try this

Go To

Control Panel>>System>>Device Manager>> Network Adapters>>Belkin Wireless Adapter>>Properties>>Power Management Tab>> Uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" that should work! I had teh same problem.
