Likely you are trying to install a Broadcom driver when your system has an Atheros wireless card. Provide the hardware IDs so I can confirm:

I am having the same problem with my 3541 , it may be because of the driver on dell support site for 3541 is for DW 1704 card , but in my laptop the card is DW 1705 , I found it through hardware id

hardware id

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_020C1028

I believe that both those computers the Wireless switch is either the F2 or the FN + F2 key.

Both the 3541/3542 use the same BT options. Try turning it on in the Windows PC settings. Then test the FN+PrtScr button.

The  "DW704 WiFi + Bluetooth Driver" given on the dell support site for Inspiron 15 3541 win8.1 64bit not working on my laptop . I have checked the hardware id of the network controller , its

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_020C1028

I googled it and found its actually DW1705 card

where can I find the proper driver :( ?

also tried this driver "Network_Qualcomm_W8.14_X03_A01_WiFi_BT_Setup-858XX_ZPE.exe"  but its showing error "platform not supported " .

My os is win8.1 64 bit

Hi All,

Even i am facing the same problem, i newwely bought Inspiron 15 3542 early 2014, i've installed Realtek first followed DVTW2_WN_10.0.0.276_A00.EXE wireless & Bluetooth drivers. i am able to see the BT icon on my desktop, device manager says device works fine, BT setting i made my lap discoverable to all other wireless devices still i am unable to see my lap when i scaned from my mobile, and vice versa.

i also have an other Dell 15R it works fine with my 2 other mobile BT, in a network of 4 this lap alone invisible in bluetooth.

Wi fi works fine in the same laptop.

I've the Win 7 32 bit - kindly suggest something to make the Bluetooth work in the  new laptop.

Thanks

Balaji
