Has anyone ever fixed the Windows 8 DNS resolution problem??
I got my first Windows 8 PC (inspirion 660) and immediately had DNS resolution problems. Upgraded to 8.1 and still had DNS resolution problems. I am connected to the router via ethernet cable, not wifi. I have to flushdns every 30 minutes or more often just to be able to use the internet. Have looked for and tried answers given online and the only one I see that actually worked for anyone is to replace the router. All other solutions appear to fail. All my other devices and computers work just fine.

There is not a widespread (or even localized, as far as I know) issue with DNS on Windows 8. If other devices work fine, but your laptop is affected, then there is an issue with your specific machine or settings. Have you manually set the IP settings on this PC, including the DNS servers? If so, set everything to DHCP. If not, try setting the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.0.0 and see if that works any differently. If so, it is your router or ISP's DNS. If not, then there may be something messed up on your computer. Make sure that all Windows Updates are installed and that you have the latest chipset and network drivers and the latest BIOS and NIC firmware.

Adding the specific DNS addresses to the NIC card settings on this PC appears to have solved the problem. (DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.0.0) I'm not sure why the issue would only affect this specific card (this is the newest computer in the house and the only one using win8). As far as I can tell there are no driver updates available for it.
So the good news is I have not had to flush dns in the last 24 hours since making the changes. I will cross my fingers and see if that holds true.

Glad it's working (so far) for you.
You might also try setting the DNS servers manually to match those of your ISP (the ones your router would be using) ... if the problem returns, then it is probably an issue with their service. If the problem doesn't return with manually-added DNS servers other than Google's, then you might indeed have a hardware or driver glitch with your network interface.
Are you using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1? If 8.1, did you update to it or did it come installed? What is your driver version?

Came with win8. I updated to win8.1.
Before I posted my original question, I actually did manually set the NIC DNS info to match my router (ISP) info and the problem became worse. Browser would not open any websites at all. So I reset the NIC DNS to automatic before posting my question.

Sounds like your ISP's DNS server and/or the system's driver is the issue.
The reason I asked is because Dell has a driver update for Windows 8.1, so if it shipped with 8 and you updated to 8.1, there may be a driver issue if it doesn't have the latest 8.1-validated driver. Your version and date show that it is older than the current 8.1 driver. It also doesn't match either the 8 or 8.1 driver versions available for the 660. Did you update the NIC at some point? Do you know where you got the update?
Here is the latest driver for 8.1 from Dell:
