Dell wireless 1397 WLAN mini card will not enable

I have an inspiron 1545 running 64bit windows 7. I made the mistake of giving tech support from comcast control of my computer to resolve an internet issue. Well he disabled the wireless 1397 card and now we cant get it enabled. Ive uninstalled and re-installed the drivers. The computer is telling me driver installed successfully but when I right click to enable it it says its enabling but it never does. I took out and re-installed the card to no avail. I checked the BIOS and it appears normal. Open to any suggestions

schomicz,

Try this...

Start, all programs, accessories, right click on command prompt, left click run as administrator. Type

netsh winsock reset catalog

This will reset the winsock catalog

If this does not work, uninstall Zone Alarm

Do you still have the drivers saved to your desktop?

schomicz,

I'm guessing the Zone Alarm is blocking your connection. I have seen this before. If you can disable or uninstall Zone Alarm, I would then see if your connection comes back.

Start, control panel, network and sharing center, click on your connection, properties.

Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties for each. Have your settings match mine.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your network adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Click on advanced. Look for antenna diversity Change it from Auto to Aux.

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

schomicz,

Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER, if using XP, run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

What virus program and firewall are you using?

I did all of that. Still no luck. When I go to network connections and right click on the wireless network connection and click enable, a pop up box appears that says enabling, then it say enabled and goes away. However, the actual wireless network connection never says enabled. This all happens with Zone Alarm on or off.
