Dell WD15, WD19S, and TB16 with Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller
A number of users in my organization that utilize Dell docking stations with their Dell Latitude laptops have reported web pages loading very slowly or complained of other network tasks taking longer than expected. Attempting to run a ping command on the user's workstation will display good replies with sporadic Request Time Outs and General Failure notifications. Users that experience these issues use Dell docking stations that utilize a Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller.
This issue occurs with the following Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller drivers:
- 10.48.914.2021 (latest available driver)
- 10.47.0818.2021
This issue does not appear to occur with the following Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller drivers:
- 10.39.518.2020
This issue also does not occur when the user utilizes the Ethernet port on their Dell Latitude laptop.
I am very confused by what could be causing this issue besides blaming the Realtek drivers. What makes me more confused, however, is that I have not seen any issues like this reported elsewhere online. I'm curious to know if others have had difficulties with this Realtek Ethernet Controller or if someone could offer troubleshooting steps to determine the problem.
