connect to guest wifi, but not host wifi

It's a mystery. I have a Dell Inspiron 15R N5110. This laptop is one of many devices in my home. All connected to a DLink DIR-655 router. But, this machine will ONLY connect to the guest wifi account and not the host wifi. Very strange. All other devices connect fine. Also, this Dell laptop connects fine to all other wifi networks outside of my home. It's running Windows 7. I thought it might have something to do with the Virtual Miniport adapters, but really am stumped now. Any suggestions?

mptsep,

Start, control panel, network and sharing center, manage wireless networks. Remove all the networks you're having problems with, then try to connect and see if you can.

Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER and post the information back here.

What virus program and firewall are you using?

I may have stumbled onto a fix. I went into the router and setup the IPV6 settings with my DSL username and password. It appears to be working. I've never needed that before, however. So, I'm not sure if it will last or if that was even the problem. My DSL modem has that information setup, but never thought to included in the router also. Like I said all other devices on the network had been connected without problems.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Removing the wireless networks does not work. I'm using Microsoft basic firewall and their free virus protection - I think it's called security essentials something.... Again, this laptop will connect to all other networks fine, and will connect to this network using the guest wifi. Actually, it will connect occasionally to the host network, but then either have no connectivity or reconnect using the guest network.

@mptsep, this is the first forum I can find that describes exactly what my situation is. Granted, your post is 6 years old, but I hope you can help.

I'm not sure I know what my "DSL user name and password" would be, or whether this fix even applies. What would you suggest would be the best place to look for that info, and how do I log into my router if I can't connect to the host network? (As a guest, the router won't let me in to its control panel.)

Thanks.
