Activate wifi on Vostro 1520
I just did a clean install of win xp and now the wifi switch no longer activates wifi. The ethernet connection, however, is working.

jerryemerydelacruz,
You will need to download and install the wireless drivers into the system as well as any other drivers for your computer. Below is a link to download drivers. There is also a link for driver install order.

Windows XP has reached End of Life and is no longer safe to use especially online. Try to upgrade to Windows 10 via the 10130 upgrade path:

This model may also have a Windows 7 COA. If it does you may take the official upgrade path:

I discovered the site before reading your reply. I downloaded and installed every driver there. The wifi came to life and I then installed the .net 3.5 pak and things started to perk-up. Still can't get the bluetooth working but the only thing I have to go on that this machine is maybe even bluetooth capable is an icon next to the wifi icon. Pressing "fn f2" has no effect on the indicator light.

I don't think this method is viable anymore as during the second install -- of the 1511 build -- the installer asked for the product key and rejected the key used to activate the first install.

Yup, did both. Set date in BIOS, and disabled the internet date set as well. I didn't notice a specific instruction to disable the internet connection during the second install, but I tried it both on and off, and each time it asked for the product key and rejected the key used on your site. It's a vostro 1520 running xp professional, and it might be worth the update. Seems to be a capable machine. Your instructions were quite clear, and easy to follow, a breath of fresh air from the usual long-winded stuff in forums. I'll try again tomorrow.

I got feedback yesterday that tis still working. Did you follow the precise instructions including change of date and an offline install?
