Hello,
Thank you for contacting Dell Technical Support.
Following your Nessus vulnerability scan report identifying that IP forwarding is enabled on your Dell S4148F-ON switch, please note that this is expected behavior if Layer 3 routing is enabled on the device.
To address this:
1. If Layer 3 Routing Is Not Required:
You can disable IP routing globally by accessing the CLI and running:
console(config)# no ip routing
2. If Layer 3 Routing Is Required (e.g., inter-VLAN routing):
Then IP forwarding must remain enabled, and the Nessus warning can be considered a false positive in your network context.
In this case, ensure proper access control lists (ACLs) are in place to mitigate unauthorized traffic.
Please let us know if you need assistance disabling routing or reviewing your configuration.
