Higher Ping Response times adding more ports to LACP

Hello,

We have a VRTX with an R12401 switch uplinked to a Cisco 2960s switch stack on 2 ports configured for LACP.

After migrating some SQL servers to the VRTX, we started seeing link saturation on the uplinks to the Cisco stack during certain periods of time. To resolve the issue, we added 2 additional uplinks to the LACP group. This cleared up the link saturation, however, our monitoring system started logging higher ping response times when pinging systems across this LACP Channel group. The average used to be .45ms and now the average is .90ms, which is pretty much double.

Aside from this, we're not seeing any other performance issues. Could this simply be attributed to the extra links and the path selection process?

Hi Denny,

You may well be correct in thinking this is resulting from the path selection process and the additional links. However, you might try updating the switch, CMC, and your NIC driver/firmware. The VRTX also has a chassis infrastructure firmware bundle, but I don't believe it sees many updates. This should be up to date, but something to double check.
