Networker NMM and Microsoft DPM 2007
Dear all,
one of our customers has windows servers with MOSS2007 Exchange2007 SQL2005 and Active directory... We want to use NMM to backup DPM
Reading the docs was not very helpful for me.
Has anyone got experience with this?
I have the following points :
1)do we need to install networker clients on servers managed by DPM for backup? do we need licenses for those servers.
2) It is said that staging and clone are not supported. Is it still the case with NW7.5
Many thanks

To recover back to the DPM Server (i.e. to get the DPM 'savesets' back into DPM) then you need only install on, and have a license for, the DPM Server.
In order to recover individual files directly back to the original client system that DPM is protecting, you would also need an installation and a license on that client. (Note that this is raw files -- you cannot recover things like Exchange databases back to the original client.)
Thanks,
_Scott

You said that we do not need to install networker on clients backed up by DPM, but in the recovery of NMM it is asked to install it.

As for restore, docs say: "Recovery of DPM Server can include recovery of the DPM configuration database, or recovery of missing replicas in their entirety to their original locations. NMM also supports granular file recoveries of replica data to the DPM-protected client or to the DMP server." So, if your restore is such that data being restored is outside DPM server (like replica) to the client then obviously you will need client software for that too. It all comes down to what you backup and where do you restore it.
