How to backup and recover Networker Server for Disaster recover
Dear everybody,
I want to test backup and recover Networker Server but i don't know roadmap to do it.
Backup NW Server and recover to different another NW server
Lab:
Nw Server 8.2.1.6 806 installed on Windows Server 2008 Ent R2
Device: i used AFTD create local device on NW
Please kindly help me !

The first thing I do not like is the general installation attitude:
- on the system partition
- in the default directory
It is best practice to install
- an application - especially NW - on a separate drive
- a pathname with "spaces"
I know this is common practice/worst practice.
"C:" will only be proposed because this is the drive which must exist.
"pathnames with spaces and strange characters" could potentially cause problems and should be avoided whenever possible.
This is the obvious reason why you will not find them on UNIX/Linux.
If you do not know how NW pools work, avoid them - you do not need another pool for the test.
There is no need to uninstall the software. Simply proceed as follows:
- stop NW (net stop nsrexecd)
- delete
..\nsr\mm
..\nsr\index
..\nsr\res
..\nsr\temp
..\nsr\logs
- restart NW (net start nsrd)
and you will have a 'virgin' system again.
- create the AFTD device where your bootstrap media resides
- You can mount the media but DO NOT LABEL THE MEDIA !!!
- If you have not used the pool "Default" you need to recreate it - the selection criteria does not matter as this will be
overwritten by the restore process.
- Run the disaster recovery process.

Dear Bingo,
I want test case Networker backup bootstrap and index below:
1. Backup:
- Create Media Pool "BKNW" use to local device AFTD volume (create on NW Server )
- Create job backup to install folder of the Networker (C:\Program Files\EMC Networker default install on windows)
2. Restore:
- Uninstall NW software
- Earse folder install after uninstall
- Install NW sofware again
I have old media pool stored backup NW and i don't mount old pool on NW new to use " nsrdr" to restore bootstrap on NW new.
Please guide me more detail. Thank !

I tested successful recover follow your instructions. Thank you for support me to test case recover bootstrap and index on NW.
