G2422HS, DDPM not working

Updated to this new DDPM. Unfortunately nothing worked. From the very slow installation process to the app not recognizing my monitor and freezing constantly. Uninstalled it in a few minutes. Please before releasing software updates, test them thoroughly. Your customers do not deserve this.

Hi everyone,

The new version of DDPM is now available! Please install it and let us know if it resolves the issue.

Same issue. Updated firmware on U2724DE first, then updated to DDPM. DDPM asserts that it cannot detect any devices and clicking the giant blue "Connect" does nothing other than change program state from idle to pretending to work while not actually doing anything of use to anyone.

The update also helpfully uninstalls the software that actually does work.

I updated to DDPM and the sound volume of the speakers on my monitor have been greatly reduced.  I have checked and rechecked all of the Window 10 settings for audio and the Nvidia audio settings as well.

Monitor:  U4025QW

Service Tag:  can I put that on here for public consumption? <No. That is private information tied to you. DELL-Admin>

Computer:  Lenovo gaming laptop about 4-5 years old.  (can provide model info if needed)

Connections:  Thunderbolt 3 port connected to monitor's Thunderbolt 4 port.

Power cable connected to laptop and the other end is plugged into a power strip.  Note:  I am NOT powering the laptop via the Thunderbolt cable but through the Lenovo power cable.

I tried playing music on Amazon Music Unlimited using their app as well as in Windows Edge web browser.  Same results in both.  This was working perfectly under the older version of DDM2.

Yeah, this update is terrible. It's slow then keeps freezing and somehow DELL missed supporting monitors in portrait!?

This is unusable for me. I've rolled back to 2.3.2.23.

Same symptoms as described above. As a plus, I did went to the pain of 2 restart and got it partially working. The USB Kvm work but no Hot Keys. Really bad software, bad interface, slow and buggy. Not beta quality, not even alpha quality

No way I will use this.

Please Dell, go back to your developers and software designer, start over.

Give us something usable.

I am trying to use DDPM 2.0.0.72 on a single monitor - Dell P3421W. Nothing too complex, just the Easy Arrange function. This appears to be flaky at best, and the Application Windows Snap function works in an ad-hoc manner. The floating menu that appears for you to snap apps to, but sometimes does not activate, i.e. you can drag an app to one of the frames, and it does not highlight. I have to drag the app back to the main windows and then back up to the floating frames window a second or third time to get it to work.

I can guarantee that at some point in the day, the easy arrange function will stop working completely and requires a reboot and/or stop and starting the service to get it to work. The old version used to appear in the system tray on the Task Bar and was much easier to access.

This version is so buggy that I am going to re-enable Microsoft's inbuilt Multi-Tasking Snap Windows and start using that!

Dell, this needs fixing and when you do, please add an option to just have a preferred list of layouts. Your current implementation has a default list of "recents" with no way to remove layouts you don't need, and often there are duplicates. The custom layouts work intermittently and there isn't a way to reorder them. There doesn't appear to be a way to have this custom list as your default.

It appears that this version of DDPM has become a "jack of all trades, and master of nothing". I much preferred the old app. I think, like others, that this needs a serious rewrite and a better guide (I could only find the ~ 11-minute video)

@patboul Latest DDPM 2.0.1.16 solved all bug. Seems to be limitation as which key is available for hotkey. UI is a bit confusing but workable.

UPDATE

I got a notified of the latest version of DDPM v2.0.1.16 about a week ago and have been running it successfully since. The floating "Easy Arrange" array now always appears, and I am able to snap my applications to the frame I desire to use. I occasionally get a glitch where the frame does not highlight, so I cannot drop the application onto the frame. However, if I deselect the application and try again, it works on the second attempt. I can put up with this as it is a big improvement on the previous release.

Dell Developers
You have two similarly named software products "Dell Display and Peripheral Manager" (DDPM) which is on v2.0.1.16 and "Dell Display Manager" (DDM) on v2.3.2. I only have a Dell Monitor and yet was prompted by DDM that there was an update, not realizing it was a different product, DDPM. I can only assume that you want to simplify your software development/maintenance and have one application that does everything. With an acronym that is only one letter different, it is very confusing, especially when the version you want customers to migrate to has a lower version number. I suggest that the DDPM application should be on v3.x. Also, if the intention is to get customers to migrate to DDPM from DDM, update the support pages to recommend this and put a link to the latest software.
