XPS 15 9950 freeze/bsod

Currently I am running the Windows10  Insider build 16281 hoping that this would fix the freezing issue I was having with the creator edition. Unfortunately I still have issues.

It is not an instant freezes, once apps start to freeze it takes a up to 10-15 second before nothing responds anymore. Mouse arrow still works but not able to click anything. Crt-Alt-Del also no longer works.

I enabled the Driver verifier in Windows 10 to stress all non MS drivers and now I am getting Green screenes indicating that bcmpciehd63.sys (Dell wifi 1830 driver) is causing the issue (DRIVER_PAGE_FAULT_IN_FREED_SPECIAL_POOL)

The freezing moment stopped with the Driver verifier running as this will force a bsod and a error message. At least now I am getting an error message on what driver is causing the issue. The Dell wifi 1830  adapter and driver is a poor component with a bad driver, you can find many complaints about this including on this forum.

With this laptop it seems to be very difficult to get the right set of drivers that work will work without issues, freezes or BSOD’s. For this model you can find many  discussions on which versions of drivers you should use for video/Samsung NVMe/Intel Storage/Dell wifi/…..

Current Drivers:

Intel HD530: 21.20.16.4664

Nvidoa GTX 960M: 22.21.13.8541

Samsung NVMe 2.0.0.1607

Intel SATA RAID driver: 15.2.15.1058

Dell Wifi 1830 : 1.566.0.0

BIOS Firmware 12.0

SDD is in RAID mode.

Hyper-V is not enabled

Any advice on how to fix this? The latest 13.0 BIOS firmware will not run/start on Insider Build 16281 as already mentioned in previous posts on this forum. The workaround to install this using a WinPE boot will work if I need to install this BIOS version to fix this

Probably replacing the Dell wifi 1830 M2 adapter for an Intel M2 version will fix the issue but for a Laptop in this price range I was expecting better quality.

Update: Build 1703 (Creators Edition) will not work with the XPS 15, all insider builds after 1703 will also not work. Build 1607 with the latest drivers now works without issues.
