Rugged Desk Dock not working
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, and I was wondering if anyone can help or had the same issue.
I have a new Dell latitude 5414 (Rugged 14) and I purchased a Rugged Desk Dock for it, but somehow the laptop doesn't seem to see the docking station. The only thing that works is the ON/OFF button (the dock turns on/off the laptop), but nothing else (monitor, USB, network) works. he laptop came with Win10 PRO 64 bit preinstalled. I can't find anything in the Device Manager that shows up as not working, and there are no drivers for this dock at the product page. Any suggestion would be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Luca

Do you have an AC adapter plugged into the dock? If so, what is the wattage of that adapter? I believe the dock requires at least a 130W adapter when used with a Latitude 54xx system, and the system of course draws its own power through the dock when it's connected, no need to connect an AC adapter directly to the system as well.
If that doesn't solve it, there aren't any drivers for that type of dock, same as the regular E-Port docks, because all of the actual electronics to drive the dock connectors is built into the system itself. All of the pins from those various devices come out at the dock connector, and the dock itself basically just extends all of those pin connectors from the system out to the various ports built into the dock, which is why there are so many pins in that connector to begin with. There aren't any chips or anything in that dock like there are in the D3100/WD15/TB16, for example, except maybe a USB hub that Windows would support natively. However, that of course means the dock should be plug and play, and if the AC adapter suggestion above doesn't resolve the issue, it sounds like you may have a hardware issue with either the docking connector on the system or the dock itself.

Thanks you for your answer. The dock came with a Dell adapter (da130pe1-00) which is supposed to produce 130W. So, perhaps the dock is faulty. Bummer. I'll return it. Maybe the replacement will work.
Thanks you again!
