Should be fine as long as the caddy makes the SSD's SATA connector line up with the connector inside the system.  Your Windows activation/serial number won't be affected, especially if you're also keeping your existing hard drive.  If you're not, you should still be fine. I've swapped hard drives on many systems without encountering activation issues.

One additional note: I don't know about the Inspiron 5558, but I know that on some systems, the optical drive's SATA port isn't always as fast as the one intended for the hard drive -- for example, the HDD SATA connector might be SATA III (6 Gbps), whereas the optical drive SATA might be SATA II (3 Gbps), so you might want to consider installing the SSD in the main SATA connector and the 2TB drive in the caddy.  Or you can start with your current plan and then use a tool like HWInfo64 to see what SATA speed the new drive is using.
