Noob question: Do drivers get automatically updated?
Inspiron 7570.
Was wondering if there are new drivers/updates available from Dell, do they automatically get updated (like Windows does) or do you have to go check on Dell Support Assistant every so often and download them manually?
Thanks

Well first, Windows Update can and does sometimes update drivers, not just Windows and a few other Microsoft applications -- and sometimes those updates cause issues. I've actually had to block Windows Update from installing drivers (which you can only do on Pro versions of Windows) because newer Intel GPU drivers have a bug that affects my GPU when Hyper-V is installed, which I have.
But in terms of updates coming from Dell, there are applications called "Dell Update" and "Dell Command | Update" that do basically the same thing except the latter supports centralized management OR standalone operation. Those applications can be configured to check for updates automatically and will notify you when they're available, but I believe you always have to manually download and install them -- and those applications that would also include BIOS and firmware updates, not just drivers. Last I checked, Dell SupportAssist was only for troubleshooting issues and submitting information to Dell to help with those efforts, not a mechanism to get driver updates, but that may have changed.
