Multiple "video cards" listed in device manager

Just bought a Dell inspiron 15 5567 with Radeon 445m video card. But I noticed in device mange, it also lists the generic/built in intel graphics under display adapters.

How do I know which display adapter it is utilizing, they both say they are running. I am going to game with it, and don't want to be using the wrong video card.

It depends.  Most of the time the system will automatically use the best card for the purpose, meaning if you are gaming it will use the AMD card and if your just staring at your desktop or watching a movie the Intel one.  Some computers (generally not laptops) will use the best card all the time and 'disable' the on board graphics.

There might be options in the Radeon Control Manager (or whatever they call it) to force a certain graphics card to run when certain applications are launched, but this dual graphics card technology has been around for quite a while now, and drivers have gotten quite intelligent about selecting the correct graphics card for the job, so unless you see very low frame rates on your games (the performance difference between the Intel and AMD graphics cards would not be subtle), I would avoid mucking around.

Thanks,

I kind of figured it would handle it appropriately, I just wanted to hear others tell me that also, to be sure :)

I have been building desktops for decades, but not  a lot of experience with laptops.
