Upgrade to New PC. Monitor Question
Have had my XPS 420 for some time now, and have upgraded as much as I can. Now is time for a New PC. Have been looking at the XPS Tower (8910) I think. Seems ok.
My Monitor is an SP2008WFP. This has only the oldera DVI and a VFG connector.
I don't see anything like that on the 8910.
Is a new Monitor needed also?

DVI works with hdmi by using a dvi to hdmi cable. All video cards on the XPS have one or both of those. Never use the VGA connection. That is just for backwards compatibility but it is not the best connection. If you have an old monitor, buy a new one to use with all the new features of windows 10 Creator version. It makes a big difference.

a new monitor is not needed, but I would buy a new monitor.
For your current monitor, I think all the graphics cards coming in 8910s have DVI-D dual link, which will work with the DVI-D single link port on your current monitor. The DVI connectors with white ends and pins that look
. Use a typical DVI-D white-connector cable with pins like the upper one circled in blue
The difference is the extra 300 pixels of width, between your current monitor at 1680x1050 and current 1920x1080. More and more applications are using the horizontal space so in my opinion, it's worth the extra $100 USD for a new monitor.
