Optiplex 7440 sound stops working

Hi, We have a bunch of Optiplex 7440 SFF desktops. The sound keeps dropping out, as in not working at all. The speaker icon in the system tray indicates sound is still active (not muted or icon with an 'x' through it etc). When sound stops working, no sound comes from the built-in speaker, nor does it come from the audio jack when you plug in headphones. The only way I have found to resolve this is to uninstall the driver and then search for new hardware in device manager to reinstall it, or reboot the computer.

I am using the latest Realtek driver version 6.0.1.6111 ,A06 from the dell site. This issue is happening on multiple machines of the same model and configuration.

Any ideas?

* Are these using the Dell shipped operating system image or are you using an "in house" image?
* What operating system?
* Have you allowed windows update to check for a newer audio driver?
* Run the Intel update check
* Reboot when done
* Check the RealTek site for an updated driver

Sorry for the late reply, I can confirm that your suggestion of installing the driver from the RealTek website has worked. Sound is no longer dropping out.
