Inspiron 20-3052, bios update causing computer to crash.
Seems this problem has happened to quite a few people. I was prompted to update as normal and clicked on the prompt, (especially with all the worldwide paranoia with hacking and virus issues) now I have a computer that only shows an amber power on light but will not boot or do anything. I have been satisfied with this product up to now but should I have to buy another computer because of this issue I will never again buy a Dell. Frustrated beyond words. Warranty expired in Dec of 2016 but I feel that this should have never been an issue that any consumer should have to deal with when responding to an update prompts from the computer manufacturer. Any advise or help resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Customers,
Dell is aware that a recent BIOS release (version 3.8.1) for the Inspiron 20 3052 All-in-One has caused some systems to fail to boot. Dell has stopped the push of the affected BIOS version and urges impacted customers to contact Dell Tech Support or on Twitter @DellCares.
Thank you,
Dell Support Team

Same here, my Inspiron 3052 doesn't show a single letter on boot and screen goes red, green, blue, white in cycles. I hope Dell will fix it for free, because it was their update which caused it.

Good Luck! I had the identical thing happen with mine. When I called Dell they had me run a couple of tests that showed the motherboard was fried. They said there was nothing they could do. He was a jerk!

Today new BIOS was released, may be a coincidence, or not.

Same here, but Dell said it was not their problem. It is just not right for them to cause it and not fix it. Dell's a jerk!

Hi chamaco,
Welcome to our community.
We’ll surely try to assist you. If you see the Dell logo, please perform the hardware diagnostics to isolate issues between hardware and software. You can refer to this link which has a video with the steps to complete the same. Also, check if there is an option to downgrade the BIOS.
Also, share the following information via private message, so that we can check for more details and assist you. To send a private message, click on my name and select ‘Send private message’.
1. Service tag/ express service code
2. Email address
3. Registered owner’s name of the system
The Service Tag is a 7-character code, and the Express Service Tag is a 10-digit code that is a numeric version of the Service Tag. Both codes are on the bottom of your laptop. You can also refer to this link which is a video that shows steps to find the service tag

LiJo J, many, many computers were affected by that BIOS update. Mostly Inspiron 3052's (and my 3252). The computers power button comes on but nothing else. There is no Dell logo screen, no way to get to any boot menu. The boot sequence never starts, so nothing is initiated/recognized.
For the Inspiron 3052, call tech support and tell them you had a failed BIOS update on an Inspiron 3052. They will replace the motherboard for you for free ( even if it's out of warranty).
For those that have other systems, like me, we are screwed and left with a paperweight. Or we could pay Dell a couple hundred bucks for them to fix a problem they caused.
