Digital audio from motherboard to graphic card (OptiPlex 780)
Hello!
I would like to connect my Dell OptiPlex 780 with NVidia Quadro FX 1800 graphic card to a LG smart TV. Firstly I've tried co connect video by dvi to hdmi cable and audio by cinch to RCA cable. According to TV's manual it is possible. However I cannot get video and sound together (just video without sound, or sound without video). According to most advices on the Internet the best solution is to use Display Port to HDMI cable with sound transfer.
My question is:
Is it possible to connect digital audio from motherboard to video card via 2 pin s/pdif cable? I could not find such pins on the OptiPlex780 motherboard.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Marcin

The 780 does not have SPDIF on the motherboard. You would need a Creative Labs Sound Blaster PCI SB00460 with Dell front audio cable C6173 Front I/O Panel connect spdif directly to the sound card.

Are you trying to use this as a home theater PC? If so, I'd suggest using a video card designed for that purpose, like the Sapphire 6450. These have HD audio support, and do not require special cables.
