Why doesn't Alienware 15 R2 support NVMe??
I am really disappointed to say the least! When I bought this laptop I knew I wanted M.2 but little did I know that this computer would not support the full specification. They did NOT make it clear that this laptop did not support NVMe when I bought it! Now I am stuck with a Samsung 950 PRO and a $300 tab as well.
I really wish Dell had been more clear in the checkout process that their M.2 was not full spec. Now I'm seriously considering other options when it comes to my next computer purchase and I have only bought Dell for the past 20 years...
I read posts showing people getting these drives to work in the R2 but I haven't been able to replicate it, I wonder if they might have even removed the workaround with a BIOS update???
It's just wacky that you could get a computer with a GeForce 980M, 4K screen, 16GB of RAM, and then check to make sure it has M.2 and it says IT DOES but low and behold it's not actually supporting the latest technology on M.2...
After posting this I'm definitely thinking I'll just build my next computer and forego Dell completely, at least then I can hold myself responsible if the computer does not support the technology I want...
