RAM for M14x R2
Hi, I want to ask if the RAM with following specification can run on my M14x R2:
-Samsung
-DDR3
-8GB X 2 = 16gb
-204 Pin
-1600MHz
-Model Number: 2RX8 PC3L-12800S
-1.35V Low Voltage

Hi,
This are the Memory specification for the 14XR2:
- Memory up to 1600 MHz, dual‑channel DDR3
- Memory min/max 4GB to 16GB
The Model Number: 2RX8 PC3L-12800S won't work since it's DDR3L not DDR3.
Let me know if you need something else!

This computer has 2 memory slots, so now your system has 4GB+2GB. You can take the 2GB out and add the 8GB to get 12GB (but is something that we do not recommend). You can add another 4GB to get 8GB or you can to buy 2x8GB to get 16GB.
We recommend the two slots to have the same amount of memory for it to be dual-channel.

I now have M14x-R2 with 6gb RAM (default). Is it okay if I add 8gb RAM so I get 14gb? will they work as dual-channel?

Is it okay if the two memories have different brand, but the same in size, frequency and timing?
